What’s it all about?
During this event artists and crafts people all over Cornwall throw open the doors to their studios for a week at the beginning of the summer. The event showcases the best art the county has to offer, breaking the mould of traditional Cornish art with visitors able to see a range of contemporary work from the diverse pool of resident artists in the county.
What happens?
The unique event – the brainchild of Creative Skills, a professional development organisation for all creative industries practitioners in Cornwall - takes art lovers on a tour of the unseen Cornwall, visiting working artists in remote cottages and chapels, beachside studios and historic buildings, quite often far from the tourist trail.
How can you take part?
This is an opportunity to meet the artists behind the work, discuss their influences and inspirations and buy their work directly. And whether you’re an art lover or just a curious beginner, the event is an enriching experience for both you and the artists.
Did you know?
In 2011 a record 205 artists and crafts people took part in the event, showcasing the huge range of talent living and working in Cornwall. Outside London, there are more working artists in Cornwall than anywhere else in the country. For an extensive reference log on to www.cornwallartists.org
