Thank you, thank you, thank you to every one of you who voted for Cornwall in the British Travel Awards. We're not ones to brag - but Cornwall has been crowned Best UK Holiday County or Region, with Devon and Cumbria runners up. And it's all down to you as the awards are based on public votes.
Not only that but St Ives was named ‘Best UK Seaside Town’, the Eden Project the winner of ‘Best UK Leisure Attraction’ and Parkdean Holidays with 8 sites in Cornwall won 'Best UK Holiday Park Park Operator. So congrats all round.
Over 700,000 people voted in this years British Travel Awards which boast over seventy categories and span every type of holiday experience, making them the largest awards programme in the UK - practically the “Oscars” of the travel industry.
The county is beginning to build up quite a track record; in 2010 Cornwall won Best UK Holiday County or Region , and St Ives won Best UK Seaside Town and in 2009 Cornwall won Best UK Holiday Destination and again back in 2006.
